Located in the medieval jewry of Ronda – now the San Miguel quarter -, “Alavera de los Baños” is a small family business offering affordable accommodation and meals to both locals and visitors. It stands next to the Moorish baths (hence its Spanish name, “by the baths”), which are regarded as being one of the finest examples of their kind in the Islamic world and date back to the 13th century, when Ronda was ruled from Granada by the Nasri dynasty. Alavera’s nine rooms have a bathroom, central heating and superb views of Serranía de Ronda or the city’s walls.
